Why We Started....And Why It’s "Generic"
Beyond the Hype
Most coffee brands spend their time trying to convince you they’ve discovered a secret bean on a hidden mountain. They wrap it in flashy foil and sell you a lifestyle that belongs in a magazine, not your kitchen. We started Generic Coffee Co. because we love good coffee, and we’re tired of seeing people waste money on the cheap stuff disguised by expensive marketing.
The 1952 Ranch & The Utility of Quality
We wanted to create gear that mattered, while giving a nod to the basic goods we grew up with in the 80s. Think back to the white and blue cans of beer, the simple bags of flour, and the cardboard cartons of ice cream. You knew exactly what you were getting: a quality product without the burden of a thousand marketing decisions. It was honest. It was enough.
Generic Coffee Company is a tongue-in-cheek take on that simplicity—"bougie" quality without the "bougie" ego. While the idea didn't start at the ranch, it currently resides here. Between the walls of our 1952 ranch studio, we realized the best part of the day wasn't the label on the bag—it was the weight of a solid, creator-designed mug in your hand and the quiet fifteen minutes before the tools started humming, the computer started dinging, and the phone started buzzing. That ritual is sacred; the marketing is optional.
Simple Gear for Serious Rituals
We don’t want to be your new favorite "brand." We want to be your favorite uniform. From our custom-artwork apparel built for your day-to-day workshop to glassware that treats your morning brew with respect, everything we make is designed to be functional, honest, and high-quality.
This is Generic Grinds
This blog is where we’ll share brewing experiments, studio updates, and the design process. We sell specialty coffee—fresh-roasted to order by our partners and shipped within days of the roast. It’s the highest quality bean and best roast we could find, beans that we actually drink ourselves. We promise no fluff, no gatekeeping—just the grinds.
Welcome to Generic Grinds. We hope to see you back soon!
Until then, stay grounded my friend, -Anna & Johnny

Hi Johnny and Anna, Happy to hear that you are doing well and being so creative. Are you considering any Christian themed coffee mugs?
